The Effects of Divorce on Children
Many factors affect how families adjust to divorce. Most families take from one to three years. Some can take five or longer. Others never!! Children have different types of reactions to divorce. These reactions depend on many different things. Some of those are:
- level of conflict between the parents
- how parents adjust to the divorce
- the information children are given about the divorce
- age and developmental level of the children
- level of social support
- children's gender
- children's ability to cope with stress
